Cambridgeshire County Council uses YouTube to encourage new councillors

Article from Dave Briggs blog looking at how Cambridgeshire County Council is using YouTube to encourage new councillors. The videos are of the leaders of the three main political groups on the Council saying why it is important for people to become involved in local government, but only the videos of the Labour and Lib Dems was available at the time of viewing (14th March 2009). The third, I assume from the Conservatives, had been “withdrawn by the user”. Anyone in Cambridgeshire know why that could be? Anything to with “County council set to consider code of conduct allegations against five councillors” in The Cambs Times http://tinyurl.com/ac69nm

Embedding YouTube videos in WordPress blogs

If you are having trouble embedding a YouTube video in your WordPress blog, look at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NopuJ_OYjsk . It explains why embedding the code does not work with the default settings and how to change the settings to make it work.  The latest WordPress interface is slightly different from the screen shots shown in this video. You still log in to your ‘dashboard’,  go to Users and then Your Profile, but the “Use the visual rich editor when writing” box that you have to untick is at the top of the page and not at the bottom as on the video.
